About This Station

The station is powered by a Davis Vantage Pro2 weather station. The data is collected every 2 seconds and the site is updated every 5 minutes. This site and its data is collected using Virtual Weather Station Software. The station is comprised of an anemometer, a rain gauge and a UV/Solar radiation sensor situated in optimal positions for highest accuracy possible.

EUMETCAST is EUMETSAT's system for distributing weather satellite imagery and products to end users. It is currently sent over EUTELSAT 10A a geo-stationary communications/TV satellite. To receive this data directly you have to be a licenced user.

Data is received on a Gibbertini 1.2M satellite dish which feeds into an Ayecka-SR1 DVB-S2 dual tuner. This in-turn stores data on a reception PC from here data is sent over a LAN to a more powerful processing PC to process the data in real-time.

Satellite imagery is updated at 1 hour intervals and the full disc images are updated at 24 hour intervals.

All data is decoded and processed using David Taylor's excellent software. For more information on this software and EUMETCAST in general I highly recommend visiting David Taylor's website at http://www.satsignal.eu
